Dear Trustee Hobart:
Thank you very much for your thoughtful letter of October 13, 2003. We can
appreciate your attempting to tie up this long outstanding loose end for the church.
You must feel a great bit of relief to get this centuries old item behind your church in
such a timely fashion.
As you know, we too rent classrooms to the Hudson Montessori School. It is apparent
that you are aware of the safety concerns that we have for our parishioners and the
nursery school attendees who use our property every day. We would like to receive a
copy of the insurance paper work for our files. Please let me know if there is anything
we can do to assist you in this sacred and important task.
In response to your questions, we would like the fence salvaged and would ask that
you arrange for its removal, as the amount of notice we have had is rather short. We
will be in touch with the church by phone in the near future to indicate where it
should be stored.
We thank you for your opening a new avenue of communication between our religious
institutions. We look forward to working with you on other items of mutual interest
through this and our normal modes of communication. Best wishes for continued
success in all your endeavors.
Sincerely,
David Blumenthal

Re: Seacord Family Cemetery Reinterments
Dear Rabbi Fink and Mr. Blumenthal,
As you are aware, the direct descendent of Abraham Seacord and Israel Seacord, Patricia Reed Perry, has been working with our church (where her family prayed many generations ago) to disinter the remains from the Seacord Family Cemetery. The plan is for those remains to then be interred again in our main cemetery, with an accompanying ceremony as prescribed by Ms Kerry.
As I mentioned in a voice mail message left with your office today, we hope to start preparation of the site on Monday, October 20. Ms Perry has also authorized all of the ancillary work necessary to effect the disinterments. Some trees will to need be removed as a first step. (Even those trees that are not directly over the sites of the old craves will undoubtedly suffer substantial root damage and are to be removed as a safety measure.) We anticipate the entire process to take approximately two weeks. All appropriate safely precautions will be taken, all appropriate insurance will be in place and, to the best of our knowledge, all necessary permits will be handed prior to the commencement of the work. Reverend Ferrari n will say a brief prayer prior to the commencement of the disinterment which we hope to start on Tuesday October 21 or Wednesday, October 22. We hope that the work will be completed by the end of October with a return of the site to grade and seeding for grass to replace the weeds.
The contractor for the disinterment is Edward A. Kelly of William A Kelly & Co. Inc. of Katonah; Vincent Fasano of George T Davis Funeral Home in New Rochelle will be supervising.
The fence that Young Israel placed around a small portion of the Seacord Family Cemetery in August 2002 must be removed in order for the disinterment to proceed. If you will be able to complete that in the next few days, please let us know. If not we will arrange to have it done ideally on Monday, October 20. As I mentioned in my voice mail, assuming the fence can be reused, if you have any desire to salvage the fence, please advise w to where the fence should be stored.
We have made every effort to have this process be as unobtrusive as possible to Young Israel.
Completion of this project will tie up a loose end for the church, will result in a more respectful treatment of the graves of members of a prominent early family of New Rochelle and will render the space adjacent to Young Israel more attractive.
Should you have any questions or concerns please call me at my work number (212 848-7847). Ed Kelly, who will be in charge of the work in the field, can be reached at 914 232-3191.
Very truly yours,
SUSAN L HOBART, Trustee
